Backpacking is a core adventure in Troop 24’s program, with at least two trips each year. Generally in the fall we offer a beginner-friendly overnight trip, perfect for Scouts new to backpacking. Over Memorial Day weekend, we take on a more advanced trip, where Scouts may hike upwards of 10 miles a day and spend multiple nights in the backcountry.
These trips require planning, physical readiness, and teamwork, offering a great mix of challenge and outdoor fun. Each outing helps Scouts build confidence, outdoor skills, and lasting memories on the trail.
Weekend day hikes give Scouts a chance to explore local trails and parks across the East Bay. Routes are chosen based on the experience levels of the Scouts and are a chance to enjoy the fresh air and outdoors.
Each ride begins with a gear check and safety review. Cycling is a powerful way to build fitness while exploring scenic routes in the area.
